ABOUT US

WORLD KARATE ASSOCIATION
The World Karate Association (WKA) is an international nonprofit organization that welcomes all styles of Traditional Karate to work together in the spirit of sharing knowledge and building international friendships. WKA is dedicated
to promoting the art of Traditional Karate, raising the level of instruction through numerous educational licensing programs, and giving scholarships to underprivileged students worldwide.
CASALE TRADITIONAL KARATE DOJO

The Casale Karate Dojo was established in Brooklyn, New York in 1986. It remains one of the most well known and respected schools of TRADITIONAL SHOTOKAN KARATEDO in the United States, and is one of the few schools that continues to teach pure Karatedo in the Traditional Japanese way. Since 1986 we have taught over 35,000 students in our dojos and various programs in the New York area. Students at our dojo learn and train the same way students do in Japan and Okinawa. These ancient Japanese and Okinawan training methods are augmented by cutting edge research in sports science, to create the ultimate Karate training experience. In addition to Traditional Karate, our dojo teaches Krav Maga (military/police hand to hand combat) for street self defense.
Sensei Casale personally teaches most of the classes and there are rarely more than 15 students in a class. Because of this, students receive higher quality instruction than in other Karate schools. It is very rare for students to have direct daily instruction from a TRULY WORLD CLASS internationally licensed instructor with Sensei Casale's experience and credentials.
Our goal is to develop our students into disciplined, healthy and confident individuals who will have the courage and strength to do
the right things in their lives. Safety is PARAMOUNT in our teaching methodology, and we are very proud to say that our dojo has a perfect safety record since 1986!
When the Covid pandemic hit, our dojo implemented appropriate safety protocols, and our programs were modified to support our members in their personal Covid challenges. The Casale Traditional Karate Dojo is especially dedicated to supporting school age children who are suffering in countless physical and psychological ways during this pandemic.

Of all of his accomplishments and accolades, this is the most meaningful to Sensei Casale. This is because Master Demura is arguably the greatest Karate Master in world history,
and is known as THE REAL MR. MIYAGI. In 2022, Sensei Casale and Master Demura
worked together on a groundbreaking movie entitled THE KARATE WEIRDO.
Because of the 400% increase in violent hate crimes in New York City, Sensei Casale created the CIVILIAN DEFENSE PROGRAM, to train the community in situational awareness, threat indicators, conflict mitigation/resolution, facility/home security and Police/Military Krav Maga.
Sensei Casale's teaching style fuses ancient Japanese training methods with modern principles of sports medicine. He is a master of educational pedagogy and his experience with real self defense situations is particularly extensive. He frequently travels throughout the U.S.A., Europe and Pan American countries to teach seminars to civilian, police and military organizations, and officiate at international competitions. No other instructor in
the New York area offers a combination of all these benefits to their students. He is best known for his masterful teaching skills, knowledge of sports science and deep insights on the application of techniques for actual combat. IN MEMORIAM

In Loving Memory of
Master Fumio Demura
THE REAL MR. MIYAGI
Master Demura's incredible skill, humility, and dedication elevated Karate from a discipline into a way of life for millions of Karate practitioners worldwide. Born in Yokohama, Japan, he moved to America in 1965 and became a cultural bridge between the East and West. Master Demura brought the traditional teachings of Shotokan Karatedo, Shitō-Ryū Karatedo and Kobudō to the global stage with integrity and passion. He taught many famous Hollywood actors and Martial Artists, including Dolph Lundgren, Steven Seagal, Chuck Norris and Bruce Lee. It's noteworthy to mention that Master Demura taught Bruce Lee how to use the Nunchaku for his famous fight scenes in the classic movie ENTER THE DRAGON. Best known for his masterful books, instructional videos and world class seminars, Master Demura was brought in to bring the character of Mr. Miyagi to life for the classic movie THE KARATE KID. The character of Mr. Miyagi was fashioned after Master Demura, and a documentary was made about him entitled "The Real Miyagi". You can watch it on a number of streaming services.
It is the opinion of the World Karate Association that Master Fumio Demura was the most complete and significant master of Karatedo since Master Gichin Funakoshi. In recognition of his lifetime of incredible work, the World Karate Association promoted Master Demura to 10th Dan in 2022.
THANK YOU MASTER DEMURA FOR DEVOTING YOUR ENTIRE LIFE TO SPREADING OUR BELOVED ART AROUND THE WORLD. YOU ARE A PERFECT EXAMPLE OF WHAT A SENSEI SHOULD BE. MAY GOD BLESS YOU AND RAISE YOUR SOUL TO THE HIGHEST PLACE IN HEAVEN.

In Loving Memory of
Master Toyotaro Miyazaki
A true pioneer of Traditional Karate in the USA, and one of the greatest international tournament champions of all time. Master Miyazaki gave us a perfect example of what a Karateka, Sensei and truly good human being should be. His masterful wisdom, warm and caring personality and philosophical way of looking at everyday things taught generations of Karate instructors a truly humanistic approach to teaching Karate. Master Miyazaki's teachings, perfect character and beautiful spirit live on in us.
THANK YOU MASTER MIYAZAKI FOR SELFLESSLY
GIVING US SO MUCH OF YOURSELF AND SHOWING US HOW TO BE BETTER HUMAN BEING. MAY GOD BLESS YOU AND RAISE YOUR SOUL TO THE HIGHEST PLACE IN HEAVEN.

In Respectful Memory of
Master Keigo Abe
Master Abe was senior student of the legendary Master Masatoshi Nakayama, former executive board member of the Japan Karate Association and founder of the Japan Shotokan Karate Association. Master Abe was true pioneer in the development of
Shotokan Karate and the original Ippon Shobu Kumite rules. He was also a great
master of Japanese swordsmanship.
Thank you Master Abe for your historical contributions to Japanese Budo. You are truly
part of Shotokan Karate history, and the history of our Karate family in the USA.
May God Bless Your Soul.

In Loving Memory of
Sensei Barbara Samet
A senior student of Shihan Casale and great pioneer for women in the Jewish community of New York, to practice Traditional Karate. Her technical excellence and desire to learn was exemplary. And her caring heart made her an excellent instructor and mentor for everyone who had the blessing of having her in their life. Sensei Samet was a great inspiration to us all, and always filled the dojo with love, laughter and incredible kindness.
Thank you Sensei Barbara for touching the lives of so many people, and filling our dojo with your love and enthusiasm. Your spirit lives on in countless people.
MAY GOD BLESS YOU AND RAISE YOUR SOUL TO THE HIGHEST PLACE IN HEAVEN.
